Great Grandpa Autobiography
My object is a book that my great grandfather wrote. It is an autobiography that he wrote when he was seventy years old that tells of his adventures and lifestyle he lived back then. His book is read by many of my family members on my mom’s side and is used as a reminder of the hard work dedicated to our family. My great grandfather was born on September 18, 1924. Born and raised in Texas, his family and childhood was affected by the Great Depression. In April of 1942, he married my great grandmother, Verba Byrd. Together they had four children, including my grandpa, and moved to Goldthwaite, Texas. In his book he mentions raising and teaching his kids responsibility and leadership. He passed away in 2006 at the age of 81, but not without leaving his mark on everybody he knew. Having four kids, a loving wife, and the owner of a successful business, it is safe to say he lived his life to the fullest. My mom always says that he is the reason that she wants to write a book of her own. She was given his book as a gift when she was in high school. At the time she thought it was pointless and just about “old people”, but as she grew up, she started understanding it more and more. His writing gives me motivation to work harder and be a better person just as he would've been.
