My item is a locket that has been passed down for generations. It belonged to my grade great great grandma who is from America. My mom now has it and wears it every day. Inside the locket, there is a picture of my great great great grandma as a child. Additionally, there are places of my great great great grandfather's hair in it. She was born in America. On her family's farm near Syracuse NY. Her ancestors came to the USA before the American Revolution, when we broke from the English and became independent. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her uncle was an aid to George Washington and crossed the Delaware River with him. My grandma had a family tree that traced her ancestors to Scotland and England. There is a Persse Castle in Scotland that still stands. My great-great-grandma was a very impressive lady who I will forever look up to. That is why this necklace is very important to my family and it will be passed down to my sister for her college graduation. Since my mom had two daughters we are both going to wear it for our college graduation and our weddings. I hope to learn more about my family and my ancestors.
