Golden cross necklace

The object in the picture isn't quite what it always was. my family believes that its good to invest in gold, its an element that will never lose its value and can be melted and constantly reshaped. The gold used in my necklace was passed down from my Belorussian babushka (grandma) which was once in a form of earrings. in the most recent years while visiting Belarus my mom melted the earrings and turned it into a cross necklace and passed it down to me, its not worn frequently (mainly because it knots my hair) but every Sunday before church i'd put  it around my neck. my parents believe religion and health are the most important things in the world but i also believe culture is too and i definitely agree with the concept that older siblings- --such as myself-- carry family culture the most out of the rest of the children in the household. i really want to connect with both of my parent's culture and learn more about it. i'm proud to be Romanian and Belorussian and consider them as my home countries. Wearing my cross necklace i feel honor, representing the respect to the my religion the Russian Orthodox Church and for all the history the gold carries from back in the Soviet union.
