Golden Braclet
My mother was born in Sonora, Mexico and she was glad to be there, there she enjoyed going to school and learning new things. My mom was about to graduate High School she was 18 years old when her dad, my grandfather, decided to move to Napa, California. My mother is illegal she crossed the border with no papers, no passport. She didn't have anything. It wasn't difficult though for my mom to cross the border. She crossed and walked right past the border patrol and they didn't even ask her for her papers or her ID. She kept her Mexican tradition going. When were little, we were presented to the church. Our parents didn't present us though , one of our aunt and uncles present us and we received a golden bracelet or a golden necklace. When it was my turn to get presented to the church , my godfather chose to get me a golden bracelet. My mom calls them little souvenirs to keep when we get older , so we can remember them. When the priest is in the church he gets holy water and sprays holy water on the bracelet so we can be safe and protected at all times.
