My mom faced hardships leaving Bangladesh after getting married, but she let the positives drive her. She was living in Bangladesh with family in the village. The men in her family ran a shop and she went to school.Her father who was very important to her passed away soon after she was married and her family lost a steady income. Later my mom moved to America with my dad. She always shows gratitude for being in America and being able to send money home. She even sold most of her lavish wedding jewelry. All but a pair of gold earrings. She doesn't like to treat herself often and centers her life around family so these gold earrings were a luxury she didn’t want to lose. The earrings are tiny hoops with gold beads in the middle. She gifted the earrings to me earlier this year. Her humbleness and generosity has not been shaken even after immigrating.
