Gold Chain
My mom came to the United States to pursue her dream. She finished college in India studying business, and moved to NY to start her career. My mom got married at the age of 24 and had to take care of her mother-in-law. She started to work as an accountant when she started but had to put her career on pause since he had to take care of the kids. She had two kids and when the youngest one was old enough for school, she was finally able to pursue her career fifteen years after she initially started. She changed her career and is now a teacher at a public elementary school in Brooklyn, NY. She had to go through lots of struggles to get where she is now, such as doing house work, going to night school, taking care of the family, and much more. The chain represents all the hard work and struggles she went through to get to where she is right now and where we all are now. Also since the pendant is a cross, it means a lot to me as well. We are a religious family, so it represents God helping us, guiding us, and protecting us throughout life and beyond. The chain is a 24kt gold chain from India given to me about a year ago. The chain connects to my mom’s struggles since it took a long time to be able to afford it and I am able to proudly wear it.
