Every day, when I go out to take care of my goats. I grab a slice of alfalfa, they all turn their heads and trot over to find out. Scarlet, the momma goat, is 8 years old; scarlet is also a milk goat. We got her and her kid from a family farm in Santa Rosa. Every day after school I go out and milk the goat. We use this milk to make cheese, soap, yogurt, and many other foods and desserts. It always amazes me how easy it is to make these things but perfecting the product is what takes a long time. This was especially true for my great grandfather who immigrated from Italy to Utah. In Utah, he purchased a herd of goats and started his dairy farm. Even though this skipped a generation I hope to continue this tradition.
