My object is a German mustard jar. It is very old and was used in Germany when my grandfather was a kid and lived there. When my mom was a little girl, her dad gave her the jar so that she could have a piece of her German culture that she usually did not get in touch with. Not only did the jar, but also the mustard that was once inside of it, reflects Germany and its traditional foods. It represents the country on a small scale. It also represents my German roots and the tradition that my family and I have of sharing big family meals, especially during the holidays. The food is often German as well. Overall, it's important to my family and I because we are able to connect to Germany without having to be there.
