German Beer Stein

The object up above is a German beer stein from the late 19th century. It belongs to the Krueger family whom I have known for virtually my entire life. I am very good friends with one of their sons. In 1874, my friend's great great grandfather immigrated from Munich, Germany to the Chicagoland area. This was one of the items that he brought with him to remind him of home. In Munich and throughout the region of Bavaria, beer steins have been extremely popular for several centuries. The Krueger's have kept this object as a way to pay homage to their German roots.

Place(s): Munich, Chicago
Year: 1874
