“Your wings were ready but my heart was not.” The most meaningful object I have is a necklace with my mom’s ashes in it. This necklace means a lot to me because I always have a piece of her with me, and it makes me feel safe. On March 3, 2019, my brother, my mother, and I were in a horrific car accident that left my mom dead and my brother and me both injured. The driver of our car was under the influence and crashed into a pole. Losing my mom was a change and challenge that I wasn’t ready for mentally or emotionally. I felt lost and sad, but I had a lot of help grieving and dealing with my mom’s death. After her death, my brother and I moved in with our dad. This was also such a big change. I had lived with my mom my entire life and now had to change where I lived. This also meant I had to switch schools, and then I started grieving with my family.  With this necklace, I will always have this piece of my mom with me to remind me of her and the changes my brother and I went through. I will always remember my mom. “I love you, Mom." - Geneva
