I chose this piece to represent my culture because this has been a tradition for us for decades probably till this generation its common to do it still. In our language its called a ''qipao'', its a body hugging long red silk dress and back then if you're wearing this it means you're of a upperclass women because then silk was expensive and not something many can afford. Red is usually the sign of great fortune, good luck, and wealthy. So having this on means you're a powerful women. You would usually see this dress on a women in this generation during weddings, Chinese New Year, or just really traditional holidays because its a representation of our culture. Now a days it has inspired many designers all the way to France to recreate a similar piece but a twist of their own. It shows how much we expanded and inspired others in diversity. This led across with many huge celebrities actually wearing it as fashion such as Paris Hilton, Emma Watson, and Celine Dion.
