My grandfather, Angelo DeNoia, fought in the Navy during WWII. He fought in the Pacific against the Japanese. His ship that he was fighting on was torpedoed and sunk. From there he swam to safety onto another ship which was then also torpedoed and sunk. He was a survivor and was rescued from the water where he was brought to a fighting aircraft without ear protection. He lost partial hearing. He was also assigned to the Enterprise during WWII. He was honorably discharged from the Navy.
He then went on to establish his own business. He opened up a dry cleaners in Lakehurst in 1970. He called the cleaners Lakehurst Cleaners. In 1984, the Blue Angels came to him and asked if he would clean their clothes and uniforms while they were on Lakehurst Naval Base for a show. He did this favor at no cost and in return they gifted him with a signed picture.
