My family’s journey to the United States began when my father came here legally from Peru while I was still a baby. He worked hard and stayed in the country, slowly building a life and preparing for our future. After ten long years of waiting and working to get all the legal paperwork in order, I was finally able to join him in the U.S. Our reunion marked the beginning of a new chapter filled with challenges, but also hope and opportunity. One object that reminds me of our migration is a small Peruvian flag my father brought with him, it’s a symbol of our roots and the pride we carry with us, no matter where we go.
