Female Italian Beggar Figurine
Relationship:
Great-grandchild of im/migrant or more
My great-grandmother bought this figurine a few years before immigrating to the United States. This beggar served as a humble reminder of where she came from and a hopeful inspiration of where she was going. In an attempt to feel connected to her Italian roots and "past life", she also wanted the figurine to symbolize her pursuit of and faith in the American Dream. She later gave this figurine to my mother when she was a teenager as she knew my mom would continue this legacy into her entrepreneurial future.
