 This is a picture of my great-great-great-grandparents, Antonio and Maria Machado. They immigrated from the Madeira Islands in Portugal. They came to America to forge a better life for themselves and their family. They moved to Fall River where they worked as farmers. I do not know exactly when they arrived in America, but I do know that their first child, my great-great grandfather, was born in America in 1905. Since then, many of their descendants have moved to other states across the country, such as Colorado, where my grandmother was born. Because our family separated, there are holes in our history that we struggle to fill.
