For my object, I chose my mom’s family papers that tell us a story about my family history dating back to the 1700s. It is a stack of papers that is bound together by staples. It tells the story of my mom’s family: I don’t even know how many, great grandparents who were cobblers in Oxford, England in the 1700s:-and goes all the way up to my mother and ending with me. Little stories are woven into the list of names. My grandmother's name is Susan Caroline Samolsim Smith Allen. She says that her mother chose her first name after the famous actress Susan Hayward. My grandmother also stated that our family was wealthy and lived in Beverly Hills and her great grandmother paid a genealogist to trace our family tree back to the 1700s. My grandmother believes that values are the most important thing to pass down to the younger generation: being a good person, a good citizen, and a good family member. When my grandmother was 16, she traveled to France where she first saw an alle and vineyards. She thought to herself that a place like this is where she wanted to live. Both of my grandparents went to UC Berkeley. One day they took a trip to Napa to see a friend and they fell in love with the valley, the rolling hills, vineyards, and alle’s. So they decided to live there and build their winery Smith-Madrone.
