El Hornado
Last year, me and my family were invited by their friends to eat el Hornado at their house. I really like going there because I get to enjoy the food and be with everyone there. Everytime I go to visit, it always has the same smokey smell from the pig, hearing conversations of other people, seeing the pig being like a golden/brownish color, the crunchy feeling of the cooked skin of the pig and (my favorite) the taste of cooked pig (hornado). Nevertheless, El Hornado is a traditional dish in Ecuador and is very popular there. Everytime you want to celebrate something, they will always say “Ven a comer un Hornado para celebrar!” (“Come and eat a Hornado to celebrate!”). Even if it's not exactly the same as in Ecuador, me, my family and friends try to still recreate the dish to not forget where we are from.
