Earrings
My grandmother Mimi tells me a lot of stories about her aunt Doris. I always wish I knew this aunt;, I think I would have liked her. When I was eight or nine, Mimi gave me a pair of earrings that Aunt Doris had bought for herself and then given to Mimi. They are very beautiful and special. My grandmother told me that the stone matched my eyes, and that's part of the reason she gave them to me. She told me to wear them on my Bat Mitzvah. I couldn't wait to wear these beautiful earrings. I wanted to get my ears pierced pretty much just so I could wear them. Years later, when the morning of my Bat Mitzvah finally came, I read the card my grandmother had written and put in the earrings. That day was one of the best days of my life and these earrings remind of that and of my family. It was so special to wear them.
