This is a Dominican Peso. It’s the official currency of the Dominican Republic, where half of my family is from. It’s only worth about $0.02 in the United States. It connects to my family because it’s from the country we are from. In the background is the Dominican flag. The Dominican flag has a coat of arms that translates to “God, fatherland, and liberty.” This flag connects to my family because it represents the place and culture we are from. Half of my family migrated from the Dominican Republic to the United States, and these small things represent who we are.
