Dominican Flag
When my parents came to the U.S. they were little. Their parents wanted a better life for themselves and their children. When they arrive they didn't know any English and they were in unfamiliar territory. They had to leave their relatives in Dominican Republic. They weren't able to do the same things as they would in D.R. such as climb trees and sit outside and watch people play instruments. My mother not knowing English when she arrived to knowing perfect English, getting a GED and now she is in college trying to become a nurse. My father know perfect English and has a job. My parents aren't afraid to show their culture and this keeps them closer to home.
