I immigrated to the US when I was quite young. I barely started elementary school in China which would be around 3-4 years old. Just like many families, my parents had told me they came to the US “to seek new opportunities.” Even though I was too young to remember the move myself, the stories my parents tell connects me to that experience. For example, my parents kept telling me I had cried a lot on the flight over here, and was screaming, “get me off this plane, I want to go home.” As a 3 year old, I had no recollection of this, yet I had felt bad for my parents as they also had to leave behind everything for our family to immigrate to America. In the photo I had submitted, the photographs was taken on a camera that I still have to this day which is kept away in a drawer in my parents’ room. As I was told, the camera that was used to take the photo was a camera specifically bought to take photos of our last years in China. In the bottom right shows the date this was taken, we immigrated a year later after that date.
