Relationship: Child of im/migrant

My artifact is dates. They came from the middle east. It is used for Ramadan for when it is time to break your fast. Fasting is when muslims don't eat and drink until the sun is complete down then you are allowed break your fast. Mostly everyone uses it but Muslim people use it the most. It is a type of fruit. There are dates that are made with the same thing but they just have chocolate on them. The first time I ever tried a date it was kind of gross at first, but then it got better and better while I was chewing it, and now I love them. We break our fast with dates because our Prophet Muhammad broke his fast with dates first, so now we Muslims break our fast with dates too.
I chose it because it is really important to my family and to my religion and Muslim people because it is a part of my culture and we use it to break our fast. It also teaches me more on how important it is to Muslim people, and what it is used for. My mom and dad immigrated to America in the 1990's, they came to this country together from Montenegro.
