My object is the Catholic cross which is a crucifix. The cross is made of three different types of wood which are cedar, pine, and cypress and it is used as a religious symbol and connects to a sort of form of worship. The cross was used centuries before the birth of Christianity and it is thought to have originated from the ancient Babylonians. I am from Haiti and have known this object since I was little because my family has it in our house. However, I received it for my First Communion which is a big part of me in my religion. I can connect it to all the celebrations of the church but most when praying and we use it as a special way to feel connected to God. I feel like this is a part of me because I feel safe wherever I am as long as I have faith and I feel connected to God. It is important to me because it was given to me for special purposes and I cherish it a lot. In Haiti most people are Catholic and my family is a Catholic family which is why it is a part of me.
