Cinnamon Star Cookie Recipe

These are two different cookies recipes that my grandmothers make at Christmas time. Both my grandmothers started baking cookies with their mothers back when they were little girls. Overtime, they added more cookies to their lists to make at Christmas. Some of my most vivid memories growing up was helping my grandmas make cookies everytime we would visit. Now every year I look forward to eating them at Christmas. What I also loved was that the reason they began to make more was they loved sharing them with new people. They would connect and make friends with people through sharing their treats. I believe this represents what it means to be an American because they can find new people to share their culture with by just spreading a little bit of joy. These are only a few recipes from each but I have one grandmother who makes Scandinavian cookies and my other one leans more Irish but also makes cookies from Holland and Italy. Their cookies show how easy it is to connect to different people by just being yourself and sharing parts of your identity.
