COGASOC
The Church of God and Saints of Christ has been important to me all my life. This organization, established by a black man named Prophet William Saunders Crowdy has been around for over 100 years. It has been a pillar in my life, it has been a place in which I know I can run to when it seems as if the world has gotten the best of me. Not only is it a physical place but it is a way of life. I have been able to grow and learn about the history of the church and the bible Sabbath after Sabbath. My ancestors grew up and inscribed this way of life into my parents which have installed it into me. I love what this organization has done for me, not only do we have services on Friday night and Saturday morning, but we also observe the holidays within the bible. Though many people think we classify as Jewish, we actually classify ourselves as Hebrew Israelites. I have seen many things and have encountered many people within this church, I have witnessed it change lives and have been a part of the life changing process. Without this church I have no idea where I would be or who I would be today. Through the songs, traditions, and practices that I have obtained from being a devoted member of this church I have been able to live a God-fearing life. I have been able to take what I've learned within the church and apply it to my life outside of the church. Therefore, this organization is a big part of who I am and who I inspire to be. I would not be able to tell my life story without talking about the very place where most of my life has been spent and the place that I love.
