My family doesn't have a history with music. The best I can think of is my grandfather on my mom's side loves listening to bands play. My step-sister used to play the clarinet and it was passed down to me. She's a nurse now and she lives in Tacoma. The reason she wanted to play the clarinet is she wanted to be like Squidward. She liked watching Spongebob as a kid. Before I started middle school, my mom thought it would be a good idea to have my stepsister teach me the basics of how to play and clean the clarinet. I refused to for I don't like getting help and I said multiple times I will have a teacher that will teach me anyways. At some point, I gave in and I did manage to get a sound out of the clarinet, but I had terrible embouchure and sound. It was a simple note. No keys are held down. I wanted to play the trumpet as a 6th grader, but here I am with the clarinet. This is currently my 5th year as a clarinetist and I'm not quitting any time soon. The clarinet is important to me because I love music.
