The Christmas sleepover in 2019

In my family, there isn’t an object or artifact of importance. The only thing that we all try to do is meet up around Christmas. Every year, my grandma, aunt, and a few other family members plan the event. They set the hotel we’ll be staying at, how many rooms we’ll need, how much food, and what activities we’ll do. We have so many people attend that half of the floor we’re on will just be us. I usually help by picking out some games, baking, or setting things up. The event starts in the late afternoon and ends the next morning when everybody leaves so, we started calling it the family sleepover. Since we don’t have very many other traditions, this event is important to me. It’s the only time that I get to see and spend time with a lot of my family. Even though most of my family lives in the same hometown, we don’t get to see each other often enough. Although spending time with family is the main reason I look forward to the Christmas sleepover, there are other reasons too. There’s a special dish that my grandma only makes on special occasions, games that my cousins make more fun, and stories that are better told in person. These are a few of the reasons why I look forward to the Christmas sleepover.
