Christmas braid
My item is Christmas braid. This item came from my mothers side of the family, dating back to my great grandmother, whom I was never acquainted with. Now every time I go to my grandma's and grandpa's house over Christmas, that excruciatingly long and bumpy drive, the anticipation of seeing them is great not only for that one dish. Although the dish is very good, it is made as a pastry or bread as it comes steaming out of the oven with pockets of filling coming through. That warm smell is almost as good as cookies in the oven. The aroma is intoxicating with the grasp of sweet bread with sugar and more sugar on top just a hand’s reach away but I have to be strong and not devour the entire thing even if I so desperately want to. The sweet grows inside as I begin to eat, with crashes of soft warm frosting and the inside splits open with ease almost like a cloud. This braid is only served during our winter holiday and only served in the morning for breakfast but I wish that it would be served more often. I can't remember a Christmas without this and I hope that I never will as it should be at my snowy side every December 25.
