Ceramic Elephant & Peache

Group:

Some items that represents my asian culture are ceramic elephants and ceramic chinese peaches. These ceramics come from Asia and are mainly given as a gifts and are then displayed in someone’s home. For example, my parents recieved two ceramic elephants as a wedding gift because elephants in asian culture represent luck. The gift giver is trying to wish the happy couple good luck and hopes they have a successful marriage. However, elephants aren’t know just for the good luck they bring, they also are a symbol of strength, power, stability, and wisdom. It is believed that two small elephant sculptures in a private home will bring knowledge, longevity, and success into the home. While elephants are mainly given as a gift for weddings, ceramic chinese peaches are normally given as a birthday gift. In Chinese culture, items or images of peaches are often in association with birthdays because they resemble immorality and a long life. Even though peaches are used in Chinese culture to represent one thing they are used in many other cultures as well but may have a different significance. The significance of these two ceramics are very important in Chinese culture and as a result, these ceramics will be passed down for many generations to come.
