Given where I'm from, there's not much to say when it comes to my culture. I'm from West Virginia, but I've moved all over the place for most of my life. I was born in Tennessee, but lived in West Virginia until I was around four. I then moved to Maryland for seven years, then after my parent's divorce I moved to North Carolina with my mom. About four years later, we moved again, and we've been here since last December. One thing I can tell you about though is my grandma. She's lived in West Virginia since she was born, and her whole family is from there. Her grandparents, parents and siblings. But now that she's gotten older, she gave the cast iron skillet her mom gave her to my mom. That was back before I was born, so my mom has used it to cook things like cornbread and biscuits all my life. Now, my mom says she'll give it to me when I move out. It's old and outdated, but it's not rusted yet so we still use it. It always reminds me of my grandparents and how it is to stay in my home town whenever I use it now to cook. And despite the whole passing it on thing my family has decided on, I'm not planning on having kids, so the cast iron is probably having it's last run with me.
