This is a story of who my parents were, where they came from, and why they immigrated to the United States. My father, Chanteam (Tim) for short was born and raised in Battambang, Cambodia with 1 brother and 5 sisters. My father worked at a family farm, and my grandfather was in the military as a MP. My mother Ry (pronounced “Ree”) was born in Battambang, Cambodia then she moved to Phnom Penh, Cambodia the capital because my grandfather had to relocate due to being in the military. She was an only child but was raised in royalty. My parents both met by both my grandparents being associated with the Cambodian military. They got married when they were in their early 20s in Cambodia.
