My family is native to California. We were here when it was still Mexíco. We became citizens of the United States without leaving our home, our home became the United States. Our demographic is somewhat unique, as people often forget that California was also indigenous land.  Telling us to go back to where we came from doesn't work for us, as where we came from is where we are. In fact, we are the ones that could say that to the people that invaded our homeland and took it from us. 

I am a musician, and playing the songs of my ancestors is one way I connect back to my Californian heritage. I wish I had a recording to share but unfortunately I have not had them recorded.
