Calabash used as a bowl.

My Artifact is on the fruit of Calabash. The Calabash is native to the tropical and subtropical parts of the Americas, specifically Central America, South America and the West Indies.
The Calabash is a fruit and is used in different ways; household utensils such as bowls, cups, plates, and spoons for serving food and beverages, particularly in Africa and the Caribbean. It's also used for storage and transportation, acting as bottles or containers for water, grains, milk, and palm wine.

Calabashes are used as musical instruments. The hollow resonant structure makes them ideal for creating instruments like maracas and drums. These fruits were also used in culture and rituals. Calabashes are often used in ceremonies for holding offerings. In traditional medicine, or as art pieces. They have been used as fishing floats, bailers for boats, and protective hats.

My dad is from Jamaica and when I was born, my grandmother sent up a calabash bowl and told my dad to have me to eat out it (porridge, cereal, fruits). She told him it was so I could learn how to talk faster. Once I learned how to speak, I didn’t use it anymore. But that’s not the end of the story as I have a younger sister and she began using it and what did you expect, she learned how to speak faster than me.
