Butterfly Hair PIn

Rusty... it’s breaking down but cold- I can still feel her touch and her smell. It’s my great- grandmother’s green butterfly hair pin she used to wear it everywhere in her hair and on her,it was important to her. This pin is an antique and has rhinestones and diamonds around it. My great- grandfather gave this to her when he was alive, he gave this to her for her birthday, even though it was small she loved it anyways. I think she loved it because she was so fascinated about butterflies she was amazed by their life cycle it was almost like she understood and related it to her life. This pin is so important to me because my great- grandmother suffered from lung cancer, it then went to the rest of her body. She kept it in her all the time I guess it was the only thing she had left of her husband. This was the last thing she gave me and my last words to her were” Bye grandma I love you.” In the middle of the night my mom tells me that she died and the first thing I see is her pin on my window seal. This pin reminds me of her, who my grandma was, and who I am today. This butterfly pin makes me still feel like she’s with me and it tells a story about life.
