Busted up volleyball
In the last semester of 8th grade, I was clueless on what to do for high school sports. I had no interest in some sports like basketball or football, but I knew I wanted to do at least some kind of sport. On some random day in gym class, my teacher Mr. Smith taught us how to play volleyball. I knew that volleyball existed, and never thought anything of it until I started playing myself. I was having a blast. I was having so much fun in class that I decided to buy one for myself so I could play outside of school. This was around the end of 8th grade, so I was excited to play volleyball all summer.
I still have this volleyball, and I have made so many memories with it. I've gotten new volleyballs, but over the summer I’ve taken that one with me everywhere I went. Whether it was a trip to the pool, the lake, the park, or even on vacation. That volleyball went with me wherever I went and it is a big part of who I am. People understand that volleyball is a huge part of my life and identity, and this dirty, busted up volleyball is the one that went through it with me.
