The book is from my maternal grandmother, who gave it to my mother before my parents immigrated to America. My grandmother is very religious, and believed the Buddha would protect them on their journey to America and grant them fortune in America. My mom reads the prayers from the book before important events or just to pray. It's an item my mom cherishes because it's one of the last things my grandmother gave to her before they immigrated.
