Buddha
My great-great-great-grandfather's name was Ashton Chai and he was born in Hong Kong, China in 1890 and migrated to Kingston, Jamaica fleeing persecution in China. He spoke Cantonese so he could not get a job in an English-speaking country, so he opened his own business, the grocery store my grandma called him grandfather so everyone called him grandfather.Over the door of the grocery store was a statue of a Buddha on the wall that was supposed to protect everyone in the store. My great-great-grandfather married " Mama Willie " and had 3 daughters one was named Clover chai who had a daughter named Sharon my grandmother who had a daughter named Christina who is my mom, the Buddha in my house is not the same Buddha from my great great grandfather store but it reminds me of my Heritage Seven Generations ago in the 1880s.
