Babka Drożdżowa
I remember watching my babcia (grandmother) bake babka for Easter when I was a little girl. She learned to make babka from her mother who immigrated from Poland to Ipswich, Massachusetts, in the early 1900s. The family babka tradition was passed down from generation to generation. I never saw my babcia read from a written recipe; she always knew just how much of each ingredient she needed. I recently found this news article in a box of family photos. The photos of my great-grandmother's hands busily baking her babka are especially precious to me.
