This cornbread is baked in honor of Augustus' great-great-great-great-great grandfather, James Cartee. James was born in South Carolina. He fought for our independence from Great Britain in the American Revolution as a patriot from Loudon County, Virginia, where he was living at the time of the war.
Cornbread is a traditional bread of the American South. As we learn more about our ancestors, we wanted to honor this part of our family history.
