On January 6th no matter what day it lands on we celebrate the Day of the king. However, as a Mexican tradition on the first Saturday of the month of February we gather together once again. On this day it is known as “dia de la candelaria” (candle mas day), where we bring food such as “posole” (soup with corn and any choice of meat), or “picaditas” (flour tortilla with cheese, cream), rice and beans with any choice of meat. For drink our top choice is jarritos of any flavor. This picture is connected to Sociology of the Family because my family are immigrants from Mexico. They been living here for a very long time and despite the fact in the country we are in, the Mexican tradition never dies. Thankfully we have the privilege to unite and see each other every day. We get to enjoy this day and continue to keep this tradition going for many more years.
