A clock given to a grandfather

Nautical clock

This clock was given to my grandfather upon his retirement. It's a Chelsea nautical clock with chimes set to mirror a sailor's evening watch schedule. It’s been in my living room as long as I can remember with the key hanging right alongside. It’s always been something that reminds my dad of his parents and in turn, reminds me of my dad. These same clocks were given to heads of state by American presidents for decades. Its chime is nostalgic to me, as I have heard it thousands of times. I have seen my father pick up the key next to it and wind it almost every day. I was always nervous that he would drop the key, as there was a vent right under where the clock hung. It truly is a treasure to my father and will be in the family for many years to come.
