We don't really have any physical objects from my relatives journey to America but, we have the passports and pictures of the boat they sailed on to get here. As my grandma was told, the story was that my great grandfather came to the United States during the war and after he became a legal citizen here. Since he had a girlfriend back home he went to Italy to marry her and also bring her back to the states. But, whilst they were getting married, the US closed their borders so basically my great grandparents couldn't come back to the states. The borders were closed for five long years and right when they opened he got to take his wife to America and start a family here together.
