The item I am sharing with you is my great grandfather's jacket from when he was in the army. My great grandpa was born and lived his whole life in America, but when he was old enough he was drafted into the war. He wore this jacket during WW||. This jacket has been passed down from my grandma now to my dad and hopefully passed down to me later in the future. My dad showed me his jacket for the first time when I was little. I used to try it on and pretend to be an army soldier shooting the bad guys with my toy gun. This jacket is very important to my family because it shows his bravery for fighting in WW||. It also shows my great grandfather's commitment to fighting against the Nazis to live in an equal world for all races. This jacket has many horrific and horrible stories attached to it. My great grandfather, like many of my classmates' ancestors, faced awful and tragic things during the war, like having to kill and watching others be killed. My grandma and my great grandma were left alone to survive while my great grandpa was fighting for their lives. But also some amazing and great things came out of it when the US was able to defeat the Nazis, and end WW||.
