When my paternal great-grandparents Ruth Whitmer and Dale Parks were married, this wood carving artwork was given to them by a family friend named Alvia Hammond. This artwork was created as a one-of-a-kind wedding gift. It was hand-carved on an old wooden roofing shingle. They were married on March 11,1924 in Ellsworth, Kansas. On February 13, 1926 my grandfather Kenneth Parks was born to them, and in 1957 my father Nolan Parks was born. The oldest known ancestor was John Parks born July 3, 1773 in Pennsylvania. While the history of immigration is unknown in this family, they are of European descent and worked as farmers.

Place(s): Kansas, Missouri, Pennsylvania
