Wooden sheep toy
This object is important to me because it is attached to a very fond memory of my childhood. Growing up, my mom and I would travel to an island in Maine with some of our family friends and one of the main features was the farm that I enjoyed riding horses on. This particular year, there was a herd of free-roaming sheep. They all had individual names. There was one sheep that walked up to me and was very friendly, and I was lonely at the time because there were no other kids on the island that I could play with. Wherever the herd of sheep walked by my house, the black sheep would visit me and I soon learned that her name was Lucy. At the end of the trip, I was sad because I would be leaving Lucy behind, so my mom took me to the gift shop to pick out a souvenir and I found a black toy sheep that we brought home with us. We call it Lucy, and it now resides on our bookshelf. I chose this object because it represents the time that I spent with my mom when I was younger, and it also represents my connection with animals. Even though we no longer spend our summers in Maine, I’m very fond of the memories I made there.
