A wooden Bench

Growing up a second-generation American it seems cliche that I grew up in a family business. Some of the fondest memories I have from my childhood were in my family’s shoe store. Even as a young child, my parents wanted me to learn the importance of hard work. Although I was just a kid I enjoyed helping out at the store on the weekends; I typically brought shoes to the customers who sat on the bench. I found satisfaction in knowing that I was helping my family.  Eventually, the shoe store was closed, and the only physical thing left of the store was the bench that was now in my house. I find it funny that something as simple as a bench can represent so much history. That bench in itself tells a story of my family history; how we started a business and eventually sold it to approach new opportunities.
