White Dress
February 13, 1990 my older sister Anny Mendez was born in Dominican Republic. This dress was made for her in Dominican Republic for her baptism when she was 3 years old and is still around in my family, this dress is 26 years old and will be passed on from generation to generation. My mom always kept this dress because my sister was her first born child and it means a lot to her. On 1993 my mom came to the United States and on 1987 my dad came as well, both leaving my sister behind in Dominican Republic. Later on they were able to bring her on 1995, when she was 5 years old, still holding on to that dress. April 26, 2000 I was born and I have worn that same white dress twice for a special occasion. This dress is really important to my mom because it represents where my family came from and it always reminds both my sister and mom about a place where they lived and miss which is, San Francisco De Macorís. San Francisco de Macorís is a city in the Dominican Republic located in the northeast portion of the island, in the Cibao region. It is the capital of the Duarte Province, and the sixth most populated city in the country, which is where my sister was born and lived. The white dress will always be special to my family and will always represent where my family came from.
