Although I never actually got to meet my great grandmother, I do know that she came to America from Italy in order for her family to have a “better” life. Once she got here, she moved to Brooklyn where she met my great grandfather. They then had six kids together and her youngest child is my grandmother. Since she had six kids though, cooking was very important to her. Therefore, she brought over her favorite recipe from Italy which explains how to make a homemade vodka sauce. As the tradition, in which she started, goes, the youngest female of every generation gets the recipe. Luckily for me, my grandma is the youngest in her family and my mom is the youngest in her family. Therefore, my mother now has the recipe. Now, my mom can make the delicious sauce whenever she wants, and my family can eat. But there is one major responsibility the person with the recipe has. That person must make the sauce and bring it to every family gathering we have. This will soon be my older sisters' responsibility since she is the youngest female in my family. After, she will give the recipe to the youngest female in her family and so on. In conclusion, this recipe will be within my family for a long time and will be a constant reminder of our heritage and where we once came from.
