Victrola Player
"The new family, what's her name, Rose Catapano. Yeah, she's got one of those. You outta hear the way it plays..."When my great-grandmother came over from Italy with her family, they wanted desperately to fit in. American haircuts, American language, American everything--but most of all, American culture. Therefore it was imperative that they saved up to buy a fancy Victrola Phonograph plus two 78rpm records for whenever they had company over. It only took a couple of weeks for everybody on Eldridge Street to know them as the "music makers".
