Turtle Necklace
One day in third grade I was getting ready for picture day. I decided I wanted to wear a necklace so I went and asked my mom for one of hers. She took me into her room and pulled out a jewelry box and showed me a bunch of necklaces. She told me stories about how her parents gave her necklaces as a kid and she kept them for special occasions. She told me stories about her childhood and where she a been with these necklaces. She showed me necklaces he mother and law gave her, and necklaces given to her by her husband. Then she pulled out a turtle necklace given to her by her parents and said I could keep it. This necklace reminds me of those memories. This was also my first piece of jewelry to have. I’ve collected many more, and I intend to keep collecting. However I still keep the turtle necklace beside my bed.
